Liverpool join the race for George Hall

Liverpool could potentially strengthen their squad in the upcoming winter transfer window and now an update has emerged on a potential new transfer target.

What’s the latest?

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have joined the race to sign Birmingham City midfielder George Hall.

As per the report, the Reds have competitors for his signature with both Everton and Leeds United also interested in the player with Liverpool keen to bring in a young midfielder who can add depth to the centre of the pitch.

Imagine him & Bellingham

There is no doubt that there is a pressing concern at Anfield about the future of the midfield with many of their starting central players either soon to be out of contract or entering the final stage of their careers.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will be – as it stands – out of contract in the summer whilst Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are now well into their 30s and featuring in fewer games.

It is clear that Liverpool are pushing for a youthful revolution on the red side of Merseyside with deals reportedly being put in place for Enzo Fernandez and Jude Bellingham to join the club in 2023.

As a result, the signing of Hall could be the missing piece of the rebuild Klopp is plotting to deploy in the heart of his team, with the Birmingham City midfielder already showing glimpses of the talents that the Liverpool manager can take advantage of at Anfield.

Over 18 Championship appearances, the 18-year-old ace – who was dubbed “unbelievable” by reporter Phil Smith – has scored one goal, registered one assist and created two big chances, as well as winning 1.3 duels per game despite only playing 32 minutes per performance.

The talented teenager has also impressed on the international stage with his appearances in the England U19s squad during the qualification campaign for the European Championship back in September, finding the back of the net against Denmark U19s in a 4-2 victory and also providing an assist in a win over Montenegro.

Klopp could form a fantastic midfield partnership for the future of Liverpool if the club can secure the signings of Bellingham and Hall, both of whom rose through the ranks of the Birmingham City youth set-up, alongside the Borussia Dortmund star’s brother Jobe Bellingham.

Bellingham and Hall share similarities in their midfield presence with the pair both adopting a more athletic and attacking-minded approach to their game. Indeed, the youngster has even been dubbed the ‘next Bellingham’ in some circles, so combining their talent in the centre of the pitch would be a curious prospect for Klopp.

With that being said, the signing of Hall would be a great piece of business for Liverpool if they can beat Everton and Leeds in their pursuit of the player.
