Kent and Hampshire have said that they are interested in signing Kevin Pietersen, who became a free agent after refusing to sign a new deal with Nottinghamshire earlier this week.Pietersen is thought to be wanting to move to the south and, given that he has just been called up to the England side, he is unlikely to want to play in the second division. With Surrey and Middlesex both ruling themselves out of the hunt, that leaves Kent and Hampshire in a strong position.The only other southern-based division-one side, Sussex, refused to comment.
