On Monday morning, Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold confirmed what has been speculated since the start of the season, that he will be leaving his boyhood club this summer after his contract expires. The Reds' vice-captain announced that he was keen on "experiencing a new challenge" as he wants to "push himself", having been with the Merseyside club for over 20 years.

has now revealed exactly how and when Alexander-Arnold communicated to Liverpool boss Slot about his decision not to continue with the Merseyside club. The report has suggested that the right-back told Slot of his desire to pursue a new challenge during the March international break, and he did so face-to-face in the coach's office, as he explained that he needed to pursue a new challenge to step out of his comfort zone.

As per the report, Slot was disappointed with Alexander-Arnold's decision but accepted his decision. Furthermore, the England international told the Dutchman that he wanted to return to action with Liverpool after his injury, as he promised that his "mindset and commitment won’t change".
