Wrexham striker Jake Bickerstaff has been handed a new three-year contract as co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney plan for the future.

The 22-year-old, who is a product of the club's youth set-up, was an impressive performer in the first few months of the current campaign when Paul Mullin was nursing his punctured lung. He marked his first league start since 2020 earlier in the season with a goal against Walsall and then went on to score in successive matches by finding the net against Swindon Town as well. Bickerstaff has been impressive whenever called into action by Phil Parkinson and his efforts have been rewarded with a new contract that will see him stay at SToK Cae Ras until the summer of 2026.

After signing on the dotted line, Bickerstaff said: "I’m buzzing to be honest. I’ve been at the club for so long now and I’m happy to commit my future to Wrexham. I’ve really enjoyed the past few months, I’ve played more and I’ve scored and I’m looking forward to the future.”

Bickerstaff made his Wrexham debut in 2019 and made it a memorable evening by scoring in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Ayr United. He signed his first professional contract the following summer and has had several stints on loan to get more minutes under his belt.

Parkinson was delighted after tying down the youngster to a new deal after a breakthrough campaign where he has proven his mettle to the Hollywood owners.

“Jake’s earned his new contract," Parkinson said. "He’s a player we feel who has potential and we look forward to seeing him develop further over the course of his new contract.”
